Making Your Lip Balms at Home, It’s Easy!

Everyone desires soft, plump lips, and one of the greatest things you can offer your lips is the nourishment they require. As the skin on your lips is very sensitive, it is susceptible to your lifestyle, the sun, and harsh weather conditions. If you suffer from dry, peeling, and chapped lips, you should watch out for your pout. And what could be better than choosing natural ingredients to moisturize them and help them heal faster? Here’s how you can create your lip balms based using natural ingredients.

1) Raspberry Lip Balm

What you need

  • 2 tablespoons raspberry gelatin mixture
  • 2 teaspoons of lemon essential oil
  • 2 tablespoons virgin coconut oil
  • 3-4 drops of lemon essential oil
  • One microwaveable spoon and bowl

Instructions

  • To start, microwave your solid coconut oil for about 20 seconds.
  • Next, add the raspberry gelatin mixture and stir the two ingredients together.
  • Place the mixture back into the microwave. The oil should have a deep raspberry color once the gelatin melts.
  • Gently pour the mixture into your lip balm container and refrigerate until it hardens.

2) Vanilla Lip Balm

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tablespoon of shea butter
  • 5 teaspoons of essential oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon of candelilla wax (or other vegetable wax)
  • 2 drops of vitamin E
  • 2-3 drops of vanilla extract

These proportions are ideal for a stick balm in particular. If you want a creamier result (close to gloss), reduce the portion of vegetable wax.

Instructions:

  • Melt the shea butter, apricot oil, and wax in a water bath.
  • Once melted, add the wheat germ oil and the vitamin E. Stir with a spatula.
  • Pour the whole mixture into an empty container or stick (be careful, it solidifies very quickly!).
  • Let your balm cool down, and that’s it!

3) Lavender Lip Balm

What you need

  • 1 tablespoon of grated beeswax
  • 4 tablespoons olive, almond, or jojoba oil
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp. vitamin E oil (you can get this by crushing a vitamin E capsule)
  • 7 drops of lavender essential oil
  • ½ tsp colored lipstick if you want to add a hint of color

Instructions

  • Heat the oil and beeswax in a small stainless steel bowl.
  • Be sure to heat it over low heat.
  • Stir until the wax is melted and add the essential oil, colored lipstick, vitamin E, and cocoa powder.
  • Place the bottom of the bowl in a pan of iced water
  • Continue to whisk the mixture while adding the honey.
  • Once the honey is added, transfer the mixture to a container to store your lip balm.
  • Leave to set for 3 hours in the refrigerator.
  • Your lavender lip balm is ready!

4) Cocoa Lip Balm

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tablespoon of cocoa butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sweet almond oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon of candelilla wax (or other vegetable wax)
  • 2 drops of wheat germ oil (or vit. E)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cocoa powder

Instructions:

  • Melt the cocoa butter, almond oil, and wax in a water bath.
  • Once melted, add the wheat germ oil and cocoa powder. Stir.
  • Pour it all into your empty container or stick.
  • Let your balm cool down and enjoy its cocoa flavor.

5) Rose Lip Balm

What you need

  • 1 tablespoon of beeswax
  • 3 tablespoons of rose oil
  • 1 tablespoon of cocoa butter
  • ½ tablespoon castor oil
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon alkanet root powder

Instructions

  • Melt the beeswax and mix in the cocoa butter, castor oil, and rose-infused oil.
  • Pour in vanilla extract to add fragrance.
  • Add alkanet root powder for natural color.
  • Once the mixture cools down, pour into a container, and leave to set in the refrigerator.
