10 Dos and Don’ts for Naturally Beautiful Skin

Golden Rule

Do: Always, and we mean always, remove your makeup before retiring to your bed. Overnight, the skin needs to breathe. And makeup helps prevent this because leaving it on overnight clogs pores, leading to pimples and blackheads. Don’t you have a makeup remover? Simply soak a cotton pad in olive oil and gently rub it over your face to remove makeup and grime.

Don’t: Do not think physical exfoliation is compulsory; you can resort to chemical ones depending on your skin type (I recommend going to a derm). Just because it has the word chemical does not mean that it is bad for your skin- physical exfoliation is more damaging as it creates micro cuts on your skin.

Sun And Skin

Do: You need to apply SPF every day, even if it is cloudy, even if you are inside, no matter what- apply your SPF. Look for an SPF that has at least 15 and blocks both UVA and UVB rays. Sun exposure is much more than just sunburn or tan lines- sun exposure will make you more prone to wrinkles and age spots, and if there is a lengthy exposure, it can also turn to skin cancer.

Don’t: Apply only little dots of SPF, you need to apply two fingers long, and re-application is needed after every two hours.

You Are What You Eat

Do: Eat a lot of fresh produce and a good amount of protein, and take your vitamins. You may want to put in your vitamin C as they help have radiant skin.

Don’t: Eat a lot of spicy and fermented food. You want to eat blander food- such as rice and oat. They are very good in the mouth but can cause a lot of break-out.

Sweat It Out

Do: Make exercise part of your routine. It gives your body the needed blood circulation to accelerate the cleansing process necessary for your body. Before working out, apply a toner to minimize the oil production and exfoliate after working out.

Don’t: Skip skincare before and after working out and shower right after working out. Do not wear tight sports clothes.

Beauty Sleep

Do: Sleep for a minimum of 8 hours per night. If your remains open for a long time, your eyes get tired and will sag, creating bags. You can apply honey to your face twice a week to soothe and heal the skin.

Don’t: Forget your skincare routine before bed. Before bed is the only time, you can apply more than one product as no one will see your oily face.

Aside from these tips mentioned above, you must have a healthy lifestyle. Do not rely on DIY miracle remedies you may find online; remember that your skin can be allergic to something natural, so beware. Let us know in the comments what is your go-to product for your skin…
