New Trend Alert: Micro-Needling

Look Younger

Have you ever heard of micro-needling? This skincare practice is being talked about on every social media platform. I guess that you have already heard about it, but if you haven’t, no worries, we will guide you through it.

What Is Micro-needling?

Micro-needling is a cosmetic procedure used by professionals to treat skin concerns. It involves using various tiny needles that will puncture the skin, thus creating a physical trauma that will allow the skin to rejuvenate more quickly.

Uses

Micro-needling triggers the production of collagen. This treatment, also called collagen induction therapy, can help reduce acne scars. It is also used in certain anti-aging procedures, such as eyelid surgery and sunspots.

Although the main reasons people opt for micro-needling treatments are for the issues mentioned above, there are also other benefits to the procedure, such as minimizing pores, promoting skin elasticity, and evening out the skin tone.

. Micro-needling is mostly used for facial issues but can also be used on the body, such as treating stretch marks.

Any Side Effects?

It is important to go to a professional whenever you are undergoing a micro-needling procedure. Seeing a licensed professional will allow you to minimize the risks. One of the main risks is skin irritation which can bring about redness, bruising, swelling, and dryness to the skin.

More serious side effects include infection and skin pigment changes. It is important to note that not everyone is a suitable candidate for this procedure, so it is better to have a skin consultation before undertaking any facial procedures.

Costs And Viability

The costs of one micro-needling session do vary, starting from around 100 dollars and going up to 700 dollars. On average, most facial procedures cost around 300 dollars, so this is what to expect.

It is good to know that the effects of micro-needling cannot be seen after one session, so if you want to see the difference, you have to plan various sessions. Make sure to talk to your doctor about how many sessions you will need so that you are not surprised when you receive the final invoice

What To Expect?

For the first few days following the treatment, you may have skin irritation and redness. This is a normal reaction to the needles’ little “wounds” in your skin.

If you feel comfortable, you can return to work or school after the surgery. As the redness fades, some people wear camouflaging cosmetics for the first several days.

Sunscreen is also essential because your skin will be more sensitive to the sun.

Your skin regenerates new tissue rather fast after micro-needling. Theoretically, you should notice benefits in a few weeks.

As mentioned above, it is important to have multiple sessions to see the results.

Home Rollers

Home rollers or derma rollers are hand-held devices with tiny needles. While home rollers allow your products to penetrate more deeply into your skin, it does not have the same effect as micro-needling. This may seem like a less painful option, but the problem is that you won’t achieve the same results. If you want to have more dramatic long-term results, micro-needling is a better option than a store-bought roller device. You may still choose to try the latest version if you want less invasive (and more temporary) results.

While it seems as being safe, almost everyone needs to consult a doctor first, especially if you are on certain medications. It is a quick way to have smoother and firmer skin, but there are also a lot of other options, so maybe you will want to do some research before opting for micro-needling.
