How to use Hair Oil to cure Dandruff?

Dandruff is the worst! I mean, what’s worse than a bunch of dead skin cells sitting on your scalp, clogging up your hair follicles, and making you itch like no tomorrow. Oiling your hair, believe it or not, is one of the best ways to tackle dandruff. This grandmother’s remedy for dandruff is extremely underrated. The best part is you can do it yourself and use oils that suit your scalp and hair because we know that everyone’s hair is different.

Coconut Oil For Treating Dandruff

You Will Need

    2 tbsp Coconut Oil

    1 tsp Lemon Juice

    Hot Towel

Processing Time – 1 hour

Process –     In a bowl, combine the coconut oil and the lemon juice. Optionally, you can heat the mixture for a couple of seconds until it is slightly warm as heat allows for deeper penetration.

Apply the mixture to your scalp, massaging it in with your fingertips.

Once your scalp is fully covered, continue massaging it for about 5 minutes. After this, work the remaining oil through the rest of your hair.

Leave the oil in for 45 minutes to an hour. You can wrap your hair in a warm towel for added heat.

Wash your hair with a mild sulfate-free shampoo and cool/lukewarm water.

How Often?

2-3 times a week.

Why This Works – Coconut oil has strong antibacterial and anti-fungal properties that soothe the scalp and help treat dandruff. Lemon juice is an astringent which helps balance oil production and restore pH balance. This helps keep the scalp healthy, and the follicles unclogged, minimizing dandruff.

Cover your hair with a shower cap to avoid a mess and wait for 1-3 hours.

Wash your hair with a mild sulfate-free shampoo.

How Often?
